MUZAFFARABAD:     (Parliament Times)      The AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said Syed Shujat Bukhari was an energetic and intelligent voice in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Paying tributes to the Kashmiri journalist who was martyred on this day a year back, he said valley had been deprived by a man of exceptional capabilities by Indian occupation forces as he was a blunt voice against their atrocities and human rights abuses.

The jehad with pen of Bukhari who was chief editor of Rising Kashmir is a torch bearer for the state newspapers and journalist fraternity, he added. Motherland rarely produced sons like him that bring pride to it.

Mr. Haider said Bukhari was targeted on the day when the report of UN Human Rights Commission on human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir surfaced. Bukhari and his friends had great contribution in that report, he noted.

The Premier said Shujat Bukhari’s efforts to unite the journalists of both divides of Kashmir and his journalistic services would always be remembered. He would interact with the staff of state and national newspapers whenever he visited Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he stated. He said Bukhari consistently highlighted Kashmir issue over the globe. He also believed settlement of Kashmir issue through implementation of right to self-determination. He was targeted by Indian intelligence agencies when he was on his way to home outside his office after carrying out his duties. He vowed to continue the mission of Shujat Bukhari until the goal was achieved.
