Terms APDP report as eye-opener for world community,
Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The former APHC convener and vice president of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has appreciated the UN for seeking from India details of cases, related to torture and killings of civilians in Kashmir.
Saghar said in a statement issued here on Wednesday condemned India’s refusal to provide any clarifications on such cases. The DFP leader also hailed Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) and J&K Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) for producing eye-opening and horrifying accounts of human rights violations emerging from survivors of violence in Kashmir. Terming it as a historic document Saghar said that the comprehensive report on torture and brazen human rights violations in Kashmir was an indictment against New Delhi.
Regarding India’s refusal to provide any clarifications on such cases, he said the United Nations and UNHRC have not only been mandated to investigate but to intervene, if a state fails to conduct impartial investigations, or refuses to investigate the cases of gross human rights violations. He said world community and UN must take cognizance of the brazen rejection of report by India and New Delhi should be isolated internationally over this serious act of vandalism of international commitments.
He said that in light of the well documented report released by APDP and JKCCS India must be held accountable for the war crimes committed by its forces in the held territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiris he said have suffered terribly at the hands of occupation forces for the past three decades were waiting for the day when world community and international bodies take a unanimous stand on the issue of Kashmir and hold India accountable for its crimes.
