KARACHI:     Sindh High Court (SHC) has rejected petitions filed by the students against abolition of semester system in medical colleges and universities.

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had abolished semester system in medical related educational institutes in 2018. PMDC had ordered for holding annual examination in medical colleges and universities.

Students of Jinnah Medical university and other educational institutes had filed petitions against it in SHC.

The students were of view PMDC decision came in 2018 whereas examination under semester system were held in colleges and universities after every six months and they had appeared in examination under semester system one year before. Therefore, the condition of annual examination be abolished for the students of 2018.

The court while hearing arguments from the parties concerned rejected students plea.

The court however directed PMDC to review recommendations from colleges and universities management.
