Terms media as essential part of system,

MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times)    The AJK chief secretary Mathar Niaz Rana said media was an essential part of our system.

Talking to media here on Thursday he said the opinion of media would be included in the process of reform to ensure better service delivery and development.

The CS said a special committee was being constituted to further beautify the capital city which would be represented by two media men. He said different areas are being identified which will be developed.

He said a strategy was being formulated to strengthen private sector in a bid to create more employment opportunities. Rana said talks were in progress with Asian Development Bank to formulate industrial and commerce policy.

He said complain management system was being introduced to better the law and order situation in the State.

He said reports were being prepared on the direction of Prime Minister Pakistan to address the environmental issues arising out of Neelum Jhelum hydropower project. The future strategy would be formed in the light of their recommendations.

“There is enormous potential of tourism and hydropower generation in AJK. A significant revenue could be generated by exploiting these natural resources” he said.

He said government also give priority to health sector and added that health management system on the pattern of Punjab is going to be launched in AJK.

Rana said we have already talked to Punjab chief minister regarding construction of express way from Lower Toppa to Kuhala.

He said facilities on all the major highways would be extended on the pattern of motor way on the direction of Prime Minister.

He said million tree project was prepared and sent to federal government. Fruit trees would also be planted under this project.

He said solid waste management projects was also in the last stage. He said all the departments were preparing a road map under which targets would be set for them and their performance would be monitored in a better way.

He said the policy of transfer and postings of secretaries is being reviewed.

He asked media to play its positive role for growth and development, service delivery and good governance. Media’s suggestions he said would be included in the policy making.

The CS said all the resources were being pooled to resolve the problems faced to the people of LoC. On the direction of AJK PM a package of 5 billion rupees was sent to Pakistan which was agreed in principle by federal government. He said LoC affectees were also included in Benazir Income Support Programme and health card programme. We are endeavoring that these funds should be spent on the affected people, he maintained.
