Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : Leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan said that Jamaat-e-Islami has been fighting for the rights of the people since the first day.

We will not allow chaos to be created in the free region in the name of achieving people’s rights. The government should fulfill the legitimate demands of the people. Abolish the tax on electricity bills and give a subsidy on flour so that the poor people get relief. These views were expressed by him in a meeting with Deputy Leader Sheikh Aqilur Rehman, Leader Jamaat-e-Islami District Muzaffarabad Raja Aftab Ahmad Khan, Syed Salim Hussain Shah, Hafiz Abdul Samad Advocate, Ch. Hafeez Sagar, Bilal Magre Advocate, Raja Zakir Khan, and others while addressing a crowded press conference in the Central Press House.

It is heard that FC and Punjab Police are being brought in Azad Kashmir to protect the projects, we have no objection to this but try not to use it on the people of Azad Kashmir, this is not a good message. Using FC on the people of Azad Kashmir will harm the relations between Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. Currently, about 2300 megawatts of electricity is being generated in Azad Kashmir. It is a universal principle that wherever electricity or other projects are installed, the local people are benefited, he said.

About other issues, there is a dire need for the government to solve their problems. Azad Kashmir cannot afford chaos at this time. This region, which has a population less than Rawalpindi, has been deprived of its basic elements for a long time. More than a year has passed since local government representatives are not given privileges and rights under the Act, he said.

At present, the representatives of the local bodies in Azad Kashmir are protesting for their rights and the government is showing non-seriousness. At this time, Jamaat-e-Islami is playing the real role of the opposition. We believe in positive politics at this time. By making all the MLAs Ministers and Advisors, a heavy burden has been put on the people. We demand the government promote the democratic system by giving rights to local body representatives as per Act 90. Random appointments in Azad Kashmir have destroyed merit. Despite the existence of PSC and NTS, random appointments are beyond comprehension. The youth are suffering from this process. Appointments should be made through transparency. Every wing of Jamaat-e-Islami is trying to protect people’s rights. Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to shed its blood wherever people sweat. Due to which the real facts are not coming out, I demand from the United Nations that they should immediately take notice of this and allow journalists and other organizations to enter occupied Kashmir, he said.

The Hurriyat Conference was established for the cause of Kashmir. which is inactive at present. It should be activated immediately. All parties and stakeholders need to come together in one platform to block Modi’s initiative. The local leadership of the refugees and all stakeholders will be invited. On May 15, the conference will be held in Islamabad. Jamaat-e-Islami is striving for people’s rights, fighting for the right in a democratic manner is a part of democracy. The government should fulfill the demands of the people, reduce the size of the cabinet, and provide relief to the people, he said.
