MIRPUR (AJK): Like rest of the country including AJK 79th Pakistan Day was celebrated in Mirpur district on Saturday  with great enthusiasm, traditional fervour and devotion.

 Our Special Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from Mirpur that the key Pakistan Day flag hoisting ceremony in this district of over a million of UK-Based Kashmiri expatriates, was held at the lawns of the state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology Mirpur Friday morning with the coordination of the Special Communications Organisation where the Vice Chancellor MUST Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman hoisted the national flags of Pakistan  in the ceremony to mark the historic day of great national significance. .

 The ceremony was also graced by the students and members of the faculity besides the varsity’s officials including Registrar Prof. Muhammad Waris Jiraal, Heads of various departments  of the only mega university of engineering, science and technology.

 Speakers including the chief guest VC  Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman Commanding Officer SCO, Mirpur Div.  Lt. Col. Waleed Akhter  Registrar  Engr. Prof. Muhammad Waris Jiraal and others highlighted the importance of the Pakistan day coupled with reiteration of the Kashmiris firm resolve to continue the freedom struggle till the liberation of occupied Jammu Kashmir from the Indian yoke and translate the idea of accession of entire Jammu Kashmir state to Pakistan – the Kashmiris ultimate destination in all respect.

The varsity students presented national songs besides tableaus depicting  the historic role of heroes of the Pakistan movement for the emergence of separate homeland for muslims of sub continent under the only dynamic leadership of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah under the spirit of the vision of the historic Pakistan Day resolution passed this day 79 years ago on March 23,  1940 in Minto Park (now Iqbal Park) in Lahore.

 The lights were illuminated on various prominent private and public buildings in the district  as a sign of jubilation to celebrate the Pakistan day showing the deep-rooted love and affection with Pakistan, the Kashmiris sole destination historically, geographically and religiously and in all other respect.
