ZHOB: Livestock and Dairy Development department claimed to have vaccinated thousands of cattle in Kakkal Sahara area of the district, where around two hundred cattle including goats, sheep and cows have been died of fodder shortage and enterotoxaemia disease. The veterinary team led by Dr. Naseebullah Kakar and Dr. Alla-ud-Din Kibzai, visited dozens of villages in the hilly area that is famous for cattle farming.
“The team treated and vaccinated thousands of cattle to prevent animal diseases. Veterinary medicines have also been distributed among the cattle owners in the affected union council,’ Dr. Naseebullah Kakar told correspondent Rafiullah Mandokhail over phone.
He also claimed that the dairy farmers have been educated about symptoms of various diseases, so they could provide first aid to their cattle in case of an emergency. He urged them to stay in contact with the veterinary officials.
The veterinary doctor has asked the cattle owners to take advantage of the special vaccination drive in their respective area to make sure that each and every animal is vaccinated.
It is to be mentioned that over two hundred cattle have been died a couple of days back battling with enterotoxaemia disease and due to fodder shortage. According to the veterinary doctors, enterotoxaemia is a disease among sheep and goats that caused by a bacterium.
Livestock is an important sector of rural economy after agriculture. The rocky Kakkal Sahara is a rich area of the district in livestock, where hundreds of herds can be seen in the postures. The main source of income is their livestock; these hardy people basically get all needs from their goats and sheep. The valley of pasture land extends hundreds kilometers in the extreme corner of the district.
The area people believe that there is a huge potential to increase dairy production, if the livestock breed is improved.
