Brussels: Participants of a protest demonstration in Brussels called upon the EU to play its effective role for reduction of tensions in South Asia and a peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the people of Kashmir.

The demonstration arranged by Kashmir Council EU in front of head offices of EU commission and EU external action service on Monday, was attended by a number the people from different walks of life including members of various European Kashmiri and Pakistani organizations.

The protesters carrying banners also raised slogans against Indian aggression on Pakistan and line of control of Kashmir (Loc) and atrocities committed by the Indian forces in Indian Held Kashmir.

Speakers of the gathering including Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Mr Ali Raza Syed, Senior Kashmir leader Sardar Sadique, prominent scholar Allama Syed Hasnaat Ahmad Bukhari and political figure Aamir Naeem Sunny called EU for its role for normalizing severe situation in South Asia in the context of core issue of Kashmir.

They said, Kashmir is real issue in South Asia as this conflict has been ongoing for the past 70 years at a huge cost in terms of civilian lives lost and injuries sustained.

The speakers said, this dispute, which is a core issue between India and Pakistan has created an environment in which the most shocking specially abuses of the human rights of the civilian population of Kashmir by the Indian forces have become as a normal matter.

They warned that the possible consequences of non-intervention of International community specially EU, possibility of use nuclear weapons by the two nuclear power India and Pakistan in the region can increase.

They said, it is an important opportunity for EU to take necessary measures for reduction of tension and peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute through dialogue between all parties of the issue including Kashmiris as a basic party of the issue.
