Rawalpindi: In line with Supreme Court directives, the Executive officer Cantonment Board Rawalpindi (RCB) has constituted a special enforcement unit that has been tasked to identify and remove all encroachments made in the cantonment areas.
According to RCB spokesman notices have been formally issued to the owners who have allegedly encroached upon in different areas including Sadar, Mithu Khan, Chongi No 22, West ridge and surrounding areas. The statement said that a stern action as per the law will be initiated against the violators in case they fail to remove the encroachments within the fixed deadline.
Meanwhile, the RCB authorities have urged the business community, traders and common masses to play their due role to rid the city from the menace of encroachment. On the other hand RCB’s anti encroachment team during its day long operation in Sadar, Misriayl, Dhamiyal, Ahmedabad and Naseerabad areas, seized six truck loads of goods from venders and shopkeepers who had illegally setup their stalls on pathways, and roads.
In a separate statement the RCB spokesman said that the Food Branch officials have imposed thousands of rupees fine on different eateries for substandard cleanliness. According to details the authorities sealed a factory of the Dawn Bread and imposed a fine of 35 thousand on it for substandard cleanliness at workplace. Moreover a fine of 10 thousand rupees has been slapped on different hotels and milk shops whereas 15 show cause notices have been issued to different proprietors for operating without proper licenses. The spokesman said that Challan of 20 Hair dressers, Nan Centers, chicken and Milk shops worth hundred thousand rupees has been sent to Contentment Magistrate for necessary action.
