Islamabad : Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Monday said arrival of foreign diplomats after the establishment of a new government in Pakistan is a routine affair.
He said this while giving a weakly briefing to media on the recent visits of foreign diplomats to Islamabad. He also briefed media on Pak-China, Pak-US, Pak-Iran and Pak-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations.
The foreign dignitaries visited Islamabad to felicitate Pakistan’s new political government and to improve their relations with Pakistan.
Regarding Pak-US relations, Dr Faisal said the United States wants Pakistan to use its influence against Taliban to bring them on negotiation table, which is important for establishing peace in the war torn Afghanistan.
Dr Faisal further said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will soon visit Afghanistan, adding that his visit has great significance for regional and international peace.
He said that aside from talks to improve Pak-Afghan political and military cooperation, various other matters will also be discussed during Qureshi visit to Kabul. The foreign office spokesperson said Pakistan is ready to talks on mega projects with other countries in the world.
Former diplomat Waheedul Hassan, while talking to Online, said foreign diplomats visit to Islamabad is good omen for the country. He further said the visits have great importance for Pakistan.
It would be more important if their visits brought positive developments in the bilateral relations.
He said United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave different statements during his visit to Islamabad and New Delhi. He said in the presence of President Dolnald Trump no improvement can be emerged in Pak-US relations. He, however, said that the United States would further increase pressure on Pakistan.
