Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has referred the appointment abroad after retirement of the ex army chief, General(R)Raheel Sharif to the federal cabinet.
In the court hearing of the suo moto case by the three members bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar,the CJP remarked that the appointment of Raheel Sharif outside the country was not approved by the federal government.
The Additional Secretary of Defense told the court that the Pakistan government contacted the Saudi Arabian government, the General Head Quarters (GHQ) issued the NOC to Saudi Arabian government.
“Does the law permit GHQ to issue the NOC?The permission letter should have to be shown in written form. The question is that whether the federal government permitted Raheel Sharif or not”
The Attorney General told the court that according to the court decision, the approval was not made by the federal cabinet.
The Chief Justice said that the case will now be presented before the federal cabinet and the cabinet will make a decision while General Shuja Pasha says that he has not worked anywhere abroad.
The attorney general told the court that according to Lahore Court, the agreement of dual nationality is with 19 countries,Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that 19 countries agreement was made the 99 countries and people of dual nationalities will be treated just like the foreigners.
He told that if the parliamentarians are banned for dual nationalities, then in the same way, other institutions personals will also be banned.
“The Government officials made their postings to foreign countries take the nationalities and then come back to Pakistan. This way, they make the assets abroad and their children fees also go from here and after retirement, they completely shift to foreign countries and take their pensions from here regularly”
The Court postponed the hearings of this case upto September.
