S A Haidri;
Muzaffarabad: Participants of a rally here on Wednesday denounced in strong terms the arrest of Dukhtar e Millat chief Asiya Andrabi along with her two associates Sufi Fehmida and Naheeda Nasreen and their shifting to Tihar Jail by India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA).
The protest rally held under the aegis of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir was attended by a large number of people including women and children. Holding banners and placards inscribed with pro freedom slogans the participants of the rally raised full throated slogans against India demanding early release of the Asia Indrabi and other political prisoners languishing in different Indian jails.
Addressing the protest procession Ms Naseema said that Kashmiri women in Indian occupied Kashmir were facing Indian brutalities and atrocities. Calling for an immediate end to Indian brutalities in held Kashmir she asked “Why United Nations is silent on this issue?” She reiterated that United Nations should implement its resolutions on Kashmir issue instead of watching the situation like a silent spectator.
She demanded United Nations to take stern notice on human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir besides influencing the government of India to release Asia Andrabi and her other two colleagues.
It may be recalled here that on July 6, 2018 DeM chairperson Asiya Andrabi and her two other associates Nahida Nasreen and Sufi Fahmeeda were shifted from Srinagar jail to Tihar Jail New Delhi by Indian Investigation Agency (NIA). They have been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for sedition apart from other things.
She was arrested after the Jammu and Kashmir High court canceled the bail granted to her in a case, mentioning that the trial court has exercised the discretion to grants bail in an “erroneous manner” on June 2, 2018. She was arrested by Police in April for allegedly planning to organize a large-scale demonstration and stone-pelting in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
