Karachi: Supreme Court (SC) Karachi registry has said in his remarks that the development work is being carried out with snail’s pace in Karachi
“The organizations of Sindh government want the people to die this way’’ he said this while conducting the hearing of a suo motto case regarding the pollution in Lake Manchar on Tuesday.
The court remarked that poisonous water is being supplied to the people instead of clean water even after spending billions. The court also showed annoyance to Secretary Irrigation that the case is underway from eight years and fishes are dying because of pollution. The poultry industry will come to an end/be finished in some time but no progress has happened.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed further remarked that Turkey has cleaned the whole ocean but you cannot do anything. Court also added that the responsible people will be sent to jail.
The court inquired that is the job of courts to clean the gutters, roads and lakes. The projects are underway from 20 years but people have not get any single drop of clean water.
Does Sindh government have planted a single tree? Court inquired and asked that until when the water of Lake Manchar will be able be to use?
Secretary Irrigation told the court that we are cleaning Lake Manchar and the progress in this regard will be seen to everyone soon.
Court further inquired that tell how much funds were issued and how much were spent on lake Manchar. If you will be asked for the account, even one penny had not been spending on the lake.
‘’You will be accountable for 20 years and have to tell that how much money had been spent where’’, court added.
Court while addressing Sectary Irrigation said that they will send those to jail, who are not working properly.
Court also remarked that humans are wandering, who cares for them. If the water was saved than we will have use it for 10 years.
