ISLAMABAD: Senior lawyer Khawaja Haris has withdrawn from representing former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in NAB references.

During the course of hearing of Al-Azizia Steel Mills references against Nawaz Sharif in Accountability Court (AC) , Khawaja Haris filed application in the court in connection with withdrawal of his power of attorney.

Khawaja Haris informed the court in writing that Supreme Court (SC) had not accepted his stance for completing trail of NAB references against Nawaz Sharif within 6 weeks and SC had dictated for deciding the references within one month.

The lawyer, in his letter, expressed inability to work on Saturdays and Sundays as ordered by the Supreme Court. Haris said he was ‘dictated’ to work beyond court hours.
Khawaj Haris said in this situation he could not continue his work. SC has not accepted his plea for clubbing 3 references. Being a professional lawyer he thinks that arguments could be given together in the three references.

It may be mentioned Khawaja Haris has excused himself from representing Nawaz Sharif in NAB references against him after 9 months.

It may be recalled that sc had ordered AC to announce verdict in three references against Nawaz Sharif Maryam Nawaz and Capt (Retd) Safdar within a month. During the course of hearing of the reference, Khawaja Haris had requested that time be given for completing the trial within 6 weeks. The court had rejected his plea.
