MIRPUR (AJK): Following the start of melting of snow at the upper reaches of the Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir, the water level in the reservoirs in the country including the largest – Mangla dam, located in Mirpur district of AJK, has started rising rapidly, official sources said.
The water level in Mangla dam was reported as 1190.55 feet against maximum conservation level 1242 feet on Friday, official sources told APP here on Friday. The inflows of Jhelum river at Mangla reservoir reported as 32600 cusecs with the outflows of 38200 cusecs of water from the reservoir.
The minimum operating level of Mangla dam is 1040 feet. The live storage of water in the reservoir was reported 0.222 MAF on Friday.
The overall position of the river inflows and outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages remained on Friday as under:
Rivers: Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 38500 cusecs and Outflows 45000 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 18800 cusecs and Outflows 18800 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 32600 cusecs and Outflows 38200 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 20000 cusecs and Outflows 10600 cusecs.
Barrages: Jinnah: Inflows 79700 cusecs and Outflows 76200 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows 74200 cusecs and Outflows 70000 cusecs, Taunsa: Inflows 65900 cusecs and Outflows 61200 cusecs, Panjnad: Inflows 2700 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs Guddu: Inflows 45200 cusecs and Outflows 37500 cusecs, Sukkur: Inflows 35200 cusecs and Outflows 11400, Kotri: Inflows 6100 cusecs and Outflows Nil.

Reservoirs (Level and Storage):

Tarbela: Minimum operating level 1386 feet, present level 1389.35 feet, maximum conservation level 1550 feet, live storage today 0.034 million acre feet (MAF).
Mangla: Minimum operating level 1050 feet, present level 1090.55 feet, maximum conservation level 1242 feet, live storage Friday 0.222 MAF.
Chashma: Minimum operating level 638.15 feet, present level 641.00 feet, maximum conservation level 649 feet, live storage today 0.040 MAF’
The inflows and outflows of River Indus at Tarbela and Chashma, River Kabul at Nowshera and River Jhelum at Mangla have been reflected as mean flows of 24 hours, whereas the other flows have been gauged at 6.00 a.m. Ends
