ZHOB: On the special directives of Deputy Inspector General Police Zhob Region Abdullah Marwat, traffic police under the supervision of Superintendent Police Sardar Mavarhan Leghari during a special drive took down pressure horns from hundreds of light, heavy vehicles and motorcycles to minimize the noise pollution here in the city.
Traffic Sergeant Abdul Ghafoor said, the police have launched a special drive, aimed at reducing noise pollution and smooth traffic flow in the city.
“Police have kept a strict check on the practice of illegal horns and have managed to control to a large extent in different parts of the city. We will take more appropriate measures to deal with such violations,” he vowed.
An effective drive against tinted glasses, colored headlights and fancy number plates would soon be started. Strict action in accordance with the law will be taken against the violators of traffic laws. The traffic sergeant added.
SP Sardar Mavarhan Khan Leghari told this scribe that the traffic police have advised all road users to strictly adhere to the traffic rules, which are meant for the safety of both drivers and passengers.
“Frequent use of pressure horns in all sorts of vehicles plying on roads is the major source of noise pollution,” the PSP officer said.
He maintained that a round-the-clock helpline service has been introduced to efficiently respond to the emergency calls and address public grievances. Moreover, he said a ‘front desk’ has also been established at police station in a bid to minimize corruption chances and malpractices in the department. The district police chief said.
