KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while summoning report on May 12 carnage has ordered Inspector General (IG) Sindh and other authorities to present file of the case before Supreme Court (SC).
The May 12 incident came before SC Karachi registry before the hearing of different cases on Saturday.
CJP remarked 11 years have been elapsed after the occurrence of May 12 carnage but the accused have not been brought to justice.
During the course of hearing CJP inquired from Faisal Siddiqui why the investigations have not been conducted into May 12 incident.
Faisal Siddiqui told the court that the matter is subjudice in Sindh High Court.
CJP remarked “ give us case number. We will review it.
The CJP summoned report on progress and arrest of accused persons in May 12 incident.
According to media reports, family members of missing persons, affected family of Dadu, teaching staff and other affectees staged protest outside SC Karachi registry. They chanted slogans against the government. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans “ justice for qabil, lagam do lagam do, Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi ko lagam do. Chief Justice wahid umeed hain.
When CJP vehicle stopped near SC Karachi registry then a woman of affected family of Mahar area of district Dadu tried to come in front of the vehicle. Her bid was foiled by a lady constable.
The affected woman accused that a member of provincial assembly intruded into her home, raped her and murdered 3 members of her family. Case was registered on this matter but Sindh High Court (SHC) dismissed the appeal.
The members of affected family staged protest outside SC Karachi registry against dismissal of appeal plea by SHC. They demanded that justice be administered to them.
Earlier in the day, fateha was offered for the victims of the May 12 violence at the apex court’s Karachi Registry. Moreover, the chief justice also ordered for a Qurankhawani to be held for the deceased.
