ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has convened meeting of all Chief Commissioners (CCs) from all over the country on April 08 for setting tax collection targets and giving final shape to revenue measures in connection with budget for the next financial year 2018-19.
According to sources FBR senior officer said strategy for ensuring achievement of revised tax targets for the current financial year will be considered in the Chief Commissioners Conference (CCC).

During the conference proposals will be sought from all field formations to set tax collection target over Rs 4500 billion for the next fiscal.

Sources said that CBR has directed its subordinate formations to send soft copies of their budget proposals today in the headquarters. Besides their proposals they should record reasonable causes and justifications so that reports based on their analytical comparison could be evolved in the light of their recommendations.

Sources said that section 214 D pertaining to selection of late filers of tax returns for audit is likely to be undone because this clause is affecting the performance of audit adversely.

Audit department has sent recommendation to Chairman FBR in writing in this regard saying that in the presence of this clause pending audit cases have surpassed 780000. During the previous two years audit of only 21694 tax payers could be completed. The available human resources are insufficient to deal with such large number of audit cases.
