Islamabad: (Parliament Times) During the 142nd meeting of the OPF Board of Governors convened on April 3, 2018 one of the most important discussion points were the launch of Online Complaint Management System and signing of letter of support between the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The meeting was chaired by Chairman OPF Board of Governors Barrister Amjad Malik and attended by Federal Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & HRD Dr. Hashim Popalzai, MD OPF Mr. Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Mr. Shah Jamal and other board members including Senator Shaheen Khalid Butt, Mr. Muhammad Jehangir Minhas, Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed, and Javed Akber Bhatti.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman BOG Barrister Amjad Malik said that an overseas Pakistani who lodges his complaint online, will automatically be responded with a Tracking ID or complaint number through which he will remain updated about the status of action being taken on his complaint by the concerned agencies. He further added that the Government attaches great importance to the role of Overseas Pakistani diaspora which always serves as strong pillar in strengthening the economy of Pakistan. Moreover the honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan has also taken notices for early disposal of court cases of Overseas Pakistanis, he further opined.

During the course of this meeting, a letter of support was inked between the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) a Vienna based intergovernmental organization to strengthen the return and reintegration program for overseas Pakistanis. As per this letter of support, ICMPD will provide technical assistance and expertise in developing an online platform for the registration of returning Pakistani migrants, preparing the reintegration framework and strategies, and strengthening the response and referral pathways among relevant stakeholders. The partnership between ICMPD and OPF on reintegration will be for one year starting in April 2018.

Managing Director Habib Ur Rehman Gilani in his address highlighted the features of Online Complaint Management System and said that OPF has developed a comprehensive portal of dealing with agencies pertaining to solving problems of Overseas Pakistanis i.e. the Pakistani Missions abroad, Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, NADRA, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Passport and Emigration, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE) Custom Department, Electricity and Sui Gas companies of all regions in Pakistan. He said that the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat, Human Rights Commission of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Member Inspection Team of all High Courts will also be included in the portal.

The Board appreciated current management’s efforts to hand over possession of OPF Valley Zone-V Sector A, B, C & E and approved exciting new projects that will benefit overseas Pakistanis. The Board unanimously passed a resolution to make OPF educational institutes self-sustainable and raised the salary ceiling for overseas Pakistanis who want to avail Overseas Pakistanis Education Fund (OPEF) scholarship program for their children from PKR 50,000 to 100,000.
