ISLAMABAD: Special court (SC) hearing Pervez Musharraf high treason case has sought Mutual legal assistance agreement with UAE in the matter of arrest of former president from Dubai.

A 3-member bench of special court led by Justice Yahya Afridi took up for hearing high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on Thursday..

Akram Sheikh counsel for prosecution appeared in the court during the course of hearing of the case.

Interior ministry supplementary report was also filed in the court. It was said in the report that 4 out of 7 properties of Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan are still in his name.

Justice Yahya Afridi inquired what steps were taken to arrest Pervez Musharraf. 10 months have been elapsed but details of his foreign properties have not been received. What problem lies with initiation of action in respect of his properties outside the country. Why Interpol has not been contacted after issuance of his warrants. What steps were taken by government and interior ministry to bring back the accused to Pakistan. What should be done to ensure presence of the accused in the court.

Akram Sheikh said ample time has been given to the accused. Therefore decision should come now. The court can issue arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf. And such orders can only be issued by the court. The court can cancel Pervez Musharraf identity card and passport. The court had ordered that trial can not take place in the absence of the accused. But case can be run in the absence of the accused.

The special court summoned foreign office and FIA authorities on next hearing besides seeking mutual legal assistance agreement reached with UAE.
