MIRPUR (AJK: Lambasting the PML (N) front-line leader Marayam Nawaz Sharif for alleged insulting remarks against the judges of the apex court of Pakistan, veteran trade union leader of local business fraternity and President of his faction of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajraan (Ittehad group) Chaudhry Mahmood here Monday said that contempt of court proceedings should be started against the PML (N) leaders including Marayam Nawaz Sharif, the daughter of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Zharif for allegedly expressing the contemptuous remarks against the judges of the apex judiciary of Pakistan through the recent public meetings in various parts of the country.

Talking to newsmen in his office chamber here on Monday the AJK traders leader asked the court to initiate contempt proceedings against Maryam over her alleged contemptuous conduct.

Mahmood continued that it was extremely sad to note that the PML (N) leaders including the party’s Supremo and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his daughter and the party’s front-line leader Marayam Nawaz allegedly targeted the judiciary including the top judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan of their extreme criticism and alleged contemptuous remarks against the judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistn since Sharif was disqualified by the apex court of Pakistan for not having been ‘Sadiq and Amin’ under article 62 / 63 of the constitution of Pakistan’, he added.

He maintained that Maryam allegedly defamed the judges of superior courts besides criticizing the state institutions. Choudhry Mahmood said that the people of Pakistan and AJK including all segments of the Civil Society are astonished to note that the situation had reached to such highly regretful juncture that the Marayam-like politicians have started targeting the top judiciary of high-profiled, blatant and sharp criticism mere for the disqualification of her father and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by the apex court in the ‘Aqama’ case. “No body is above the law” Mahmood said and emphasized that high decorum of the judiciary, from lower to bottom, shall have to be maintained in all circumstances through ensuring the rule and supremacy of law and justice in the country.

He said that the country was already passing through critical situation following the internal and external threats. “It is enjoined upon the political leadership including those from the ruling class to prove as the role model for the common man through their high moral act and character”, Mahmood concluded.
