MIRPUR (AJK): A civilian was martyred and two others sustained serious injuries as a result of unprovoked firing by the Indian forces in Nezapir and Rawalakot sector in Rawalakot district of Poonch division of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday, officials confirmed.

According to ISPR army’s media cell, Indian forces opened unprovoked firing in Nezapir and Rawalkot sectors, targeting civil population. Pakistan army responded effectively to Indian posts targeting civilians, said the ISPR.

According to details gathered from the local authorities pouring in from the Indian firing hit forward areas close to this side of the LoC in Nezapir and Rawalakot sectors, a local Muhammad Rafaqat s/o Zakir Hussain Rathore resident of Mandhaar, Forward Kahota, was martyred while two others including M. Muhawaiya s/o Nazir Hussain Dar was injured as a result of fresh massive abuse of cease fire by the Indian troops in form of unprovoked shelling on the line of control in Neza Pir and Rawalakot sectors of Rawalakot district Sunday.

The unprovoked Indian firing, according to the locals, started at about 11.00 in the morning and continued till 3.00 p.m intermittently. Injured have been rushed to a local hospital in Forward Kahota, a freelance Forward Kahota-based local journalist told this Correspondent Sunday evening quoting local civil authorities

Earlier, on Jan 28, three civilians were injured after Indian forces opened unprovoked fire across the line of control targeting forward areas population dwelling close to this side of the LoC in AJK.
