Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Chairman NAB Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal on Friday ordered inquiry against chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf Imran Khan and Perviaz Khattak, CM KPK for misuse of authority and private use of official helicopters on cheaper price.
Chairman NAB has directed Director General NAB, KPK to conduct inquiry against KP CM Pervaiz Khattak and PTI chairman Imran Khan for reportedly 74 hours unofficial use of two KP government helicopters, MI-17 and Ecureuil on cheaper prices by misuse of authority. Chairman NAB has sought report on private use of Official helicopters and abuse of authrity by CM, KP.
According to reports, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan had used MI 17, helicopter for 22 hours and Ecureuil Helicopter for 52 hours. According to report, the expenditures of 74 hours of flying were Rs 28,000 per hours. The total cost of flying hours was Rs 2,107,181 (Rs 2.1072 million).
According to report, PTI chairman, if chartered a MI-17 Helicopterfrom priavte firm, the rates could be from Rs 10 lakh to 12 lakh per hour. Whereas the per hour expenditures of chartering an Ecurreuil helicopter from private firms could had been from 500,000 to 600,000 per hour. According to Principal Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister on technical training and aviation, the per hour expenditures of an official helicopter were from Rs 150,000 to Rs 200,000.And PTI chairman should had to pay Rs 150,000 per hour on use of official helicopter. Total payable should be 111,100,000 but the amount mentioned in the official documents is only Rs 2.1072 million.
Purportedly the PTI chairman is said to have used MI 17 for his private visits to Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Battagram, Dir and Kamrat from Banni Gala (Islamabad). Likewise, Imran Khan had used Ecureuil Helicopter for his private visits to Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad,Haripur, Chitral,Swat and Nowshera from Bani Gala (Islamabad).
Chairman NAB has directed DG, NAB, KP to inquire whether the CM has legal powers to give sensitive assets like helicopters for private use. To inquire on what pretext Imran Khan had been allowed to use of official helicopters. Whether the helicopters had been given to other persons also for private use. Whether the CM had misused his authority. The basic aim of NAB’s inquiry is to ban the misuse of official helicopters.
