Islamabad: Managing Director (MD) Utility Stores Corporation, Mathar Niaz Rana imposing 17.5 million fines on five companies for providing substandard items resolved to make no compromise on provision of standardized and cheap commodities to public.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, the corporation has started drive to provide standardized and cheap commodities to public and heavy fines have been imposed on companies being caught providing substandard eatables.
Certificates of Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and International Standard Organization (ISO) have been termed mandatory for purchase of all branded items and new SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) has been followed to purchase new items.
The statement said that MD Utility Stores Corporation has made it clear over administration and suppliers that no any laxity would be tolerated regarding purchase of items.
“If any company being caught supplying substandard and wrong items would be black listed and heavy fines be imposed,” said the statement quoting MD Utility Stores Corporation as saying.
MD said that samples of its items, price fixing, market survey, re-attestation of ISO and PSQCA certificates would be done before enlisting a company.
Statement said that laboratory testing of shelved items at all outlets would be carried out continuously so that consumers could find high quality items.
