Lahore: Punjab Government Spokesperson has said that a joint investigation team has been formed to catch culprits involved in rape and murder of seven-year old girl in Kasur.
Speaking to a private TV channel, the spokesperson said that the accused will be identified with the help of CCTV footage and soon will be arrested. He said such incidents are frequently happening in Qasoor, however, the government will fulfill its responsibilities. He said six seven incidents have similarities and murderer seems to be psychopath.
He said that police found evidence in which the accused is taking the kid inside a bakery and soon forces on this lead will arrest him. He said this is a serious type of crime and will not be taken lightly. He said the culprits would be brought before the justice.
Police said the minor, a resident of Rod Kot area of Kasur was kidnapped on her way to a tuition centre on January 5. Her body was found in a garbage pile near Kashmir Chowk four days after her abduction.
The initial postmortem report of the minor states that she was strangled to death after being raped multiple times.
The minor’s parents were in Saudi Arabia where they had gone to perform Umrah when the incident occurred. The parents are expected to return to the country on Wednesday.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif have taken notice of the incident.
