SOPORE: In occupied Kashmir, unknown gunmen have killed a son of Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Maqbool Sofi, in Sopore.

The gunman shot dead the 25-year-old Arif Ahmed Sofi at Herwan Unisoo on the outskirts of Sopore last night.

Meanwhile, Indian police and paramilitary forces have launched massive crackdown operations against Hurriyat leaders and activists ahead of the Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day being observed tomorrow. They have arrested numerous pro freedom leaders and activists in different areas in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Kashmiris observe 5th January as ‘Right to Self-Determination Day’ every year.

Meanwhile, the illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that India has turned Kashmir into a big jail.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar said that arresting people, placing Hurriyet leaders under house arrest and clamping curfews and restrictions had become order of the day in the occupied territory.

On the other hand, All Parties Hurriyet Conference has condemned the continued illegal detention and house arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists.
