Islamabad: State Minister for CAAD Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has assured that the daily wages employees in the schools of Islamabad would be made permanent and they would be given salaries on time.
During a meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurance, which The committee met under the chairmanship of Abdul Majid Khan Khanankhel in Parliament Lodges.
Minister of State for National Health Dr. Saira Afzal Tarar has said that a bill has been presented in parliament to prevent the spurious drugs, medical stores and laboratories will be brought under the ambit of law throughout the country.
The committee has summoned Federal Minister for Communication and Chairman NHA on the delay in construction of a bridge on the River Ravi at Syedwala.
The members of committee including Chaudhry Mohammad Munir Azhar, Malik Abrar Ahmad, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Maulana Mohammad Khan Shirani, Shahzadi Omarzadi Tawana, Dr. Shizra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Minister of State for CAAD Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister of State for National Health Saira Afzal Tarar, Secretary CAAD and Secretary National Health and high officials participated in the meeting.
During the meeting the PIMS administration told that in the PIMS ICU ward the staff nurse who meted out substandard attitude towards a disable girl has been issued show cause notice to terminate his service and he is behind the bars in the jail. They said that stringent steps have been taken for the prevention of such incidents in future. The meeting was told that a very meager fund is being spent to look after the patients in Islamabad hospitals and an increase in it is inevitable.
Briefing the committee the Minister of State for CAAD Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that a bill has been approved by the Senate and National Assembly Standing Committee to segregate PIMS hospital from Medical University. And after the approval in the next session of Senate its implementation will be taken in hand. He said that unfortunately officers are making laws for their own personal interests for which worst affectees are the government and staffers. He told that to upgrade the Standard of education in Islamabad 3 billion grant has been received under the Prime Minister Special Funds. In the first phase 220 million rupees have been spent. And now in the federal capital for the betterment of 200 educational institutions 1.70 billion rupees will be spent. He told that in the Islamabad educational institutions the teaching and nonteaching and the matter of daily wagers is a contentious issue. He added there are difficulties to make them permanent. Government has put forward some suggestions to the employees in this regard and they are not agreeable to them and knocked the door of the court. The court has given the same decision to them similar to the government. He reiterated that he is personally in the favour of the employees and to arrange payment for them he held several meetings with the Finance Ministry.
Minister of State for National Health Saira Afzal Tarar told the committee that to control the medical stores and laboratories in the federal capital a bill has been approved by the federal cabinet and soon the bill be tabled in the parliament. She said that medicine manufacturing entities in addition to arrange the foreign excursion trips to doctors they also make available most modern vehicles on the eve of the marriages of their children. In substitution doctors prescribed the medicines of those medicine manufacturers. She said that they have talked to the concerned authorities to eradicate this menace. She said that doctors instead of prescribing a specific medicine by brand name they should prescribe the formula of the medicine. However it is not workable.
The committee was told by member NHA that the construction of bridge at Syedwala was delayed on the part of contractor with slow pace and they have imposed a fine on the said contractor. They said had they blacklisted the contractor before the completion of the project, then it was feared, the contractor would have approached the court and this project would linger on for years.
Upon this the MNA Dr. Shizra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal has while demonstrating annoyance said that Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs on the floor of the house assured in 2016 that the bridge will be completed but despite the lapsation of more than one year this bridges has not been completed and it will be a loss in the ensuing general elections. Upon this the committee chairman constituted a sub committee and summoned federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman NHS.
