LAHORE: Supreme Court (SC) has sought bank accounts details and other particulars of Medical college owned by Sharif family.

The court has remarked “ now the court will set the procedure for charging fee in medical colleges.

A two members bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan took up for hearing suo motu case of charging of heavy fees in private medical colleges on Thursday.
The CJP inquired during the hearing owner of Sharif Medical college was summoned and why he has not come.

College principal said notice has not been received and due to this reason he could not appear before the court.

CJP inquired who is main trustee of Sharif Medical college.

College principal told Nawaz Sharif is main trustee of Sharif Medical college.

CJP remarked “ Nawaz Sharif should be summoned to the court.

CJP observed “ tell us how much fee is charged to the students. Court is trying that money should not become obstacle on the way to education. If we feel need to contact the generous people in connection with admission of students we will do it.
The court summoned Asif Rajwana son of governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana for making telephonic call to female lawyer.

Asif Rajwana appeared before the court.

Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan remarked while addressing him “ did you want to stop female counsel.

Rajwana told the court he had family relations with female counsel Anjum Wahid. Dr Farid had asked me to call female counsel.

Asif Rajwana offered unconditional apology to the court and the apology was accepted by the bench.

CJP remarked ‘ court is trying money does not hamper attainment of education. If we feel need to contact the generous people in connection with admission of students then we will do so. Is there any method that the students who are unable to pay fee could get admission. Tell us chief secretary is there any method that such students could be helped.

Chief secretary Punjab said provincial government has funds on this count.

CJP ordered DG LDA to close illegal marriage halls operating in the city forthwith. How Hamid Latif hospital was built in the residential area. Inspect the hospital and see where encroachments have been set up. A plaza is being constructed in Gulberg. Its parking stands where. A report in this regard be also framed.

DG LDA said ‘court should support us we will do this job.

CJP remarked no court in the country will issue any stay order on these matters.
The chief justice has also directed all private medical colleges to submit, in seven days, a report on the structure, labs, bank accounts and facilities provided to students.

CJP observed from now on SC will set the criteria for charging fee to students in medical colleges. All the medical colleges should file their affidavits within 7 days.
