Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, expressing serious concern over the assault on Kashmiri detainees in Delhi’s Tihar jail, has demanded immediate shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various Indian to the Kashmir Valley jails.

Syed Ali Gilani made this demand while interacting with a delegation of the relatives of the prisoners lodged in Tihar jail. The delegation members briefed him about the latest developments and the recent attack on the inmates in Tihar jail.

“Syed Ali Gilani was told by the delegation that 18 inmates suffered injuries on the night of November 21 after they were brutally beaten by personnel of Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) and Quick Reaction Team (QRT) without any reason,” said an APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar.

Syed Ali Gilani, according to the statement, assured the delegation of all possible help. “It is a ghastly act and has put the lives of all Kashmiri political prisoners in danger. It is a very sensitive issue and a matter of concern for all,” he said. The APHC Chairman said, all these prisoners are innocent and detained on false allegations and demanded their immediate shifting to jails in the Kashmir Valley.

He appealed to the world organizations including UN Human Rights Commission, Asia Watch and Amnesty International to take cognizance of the inhuman and hostile treatment meted out to the Kashmiri detainees lodged in Tihar jail. He also asked them to take serious notice about indiscriminate use of draconian law, Public Safety Act, against innocent Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani in a separate statement expressed profound grief over the loss of precious lives in the Peshawar terror attack. He extended sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred. He also prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the incident.
