MIRPUR (AJK): Following the federal government’s decision of not restoring the gazetted holiday on November 9 marking Birth day of the poet philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the AJK government too has also cancelled the annual gazetted holiday, official sources said.

“All the government and semi-government offices of the AJK government will remain open on November 9 (Thursday) throughout Azad Jammu & Kashmir to perform their official duties as routine”, the AJK Services & General Administration Department sources told this Correspondent on Wednesday.
Earlier November 9 was observed as gazetted holiday every year across AJK to mark the birth anniversary of the poet philosopher. The gazetted holiday on Iqbal Day was abolished in Azad Jammu & Kashmir by following the decision of the government of Pakistan last year to this direction, according to the sources.
