As a nation it is our duty to honor the resolutions and commitments made by our forefathers, people of AJK and Pakistan will continue with their diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination”
Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The President of Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan has urged the international community to take note of the war crimes taking place in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).
“The civilized nations across the globe must take effective cognizance of the atrocities and influence upon India to withdraw their forces from occupied Kashmir, release Kashmiri leaders, repeal the black laws and allow the fact finding teams of the UN and the Organization for Islamic Cooperation to visit IOK”, AJK president said this while addressing the main event of the 70th Foundation Day of the Azad State of Jammu and Kashmir, which was held in a spectacular and grand fashion at the university grounds in Muzaffarabad.
While highlighting the dangerous dimensions of the long running Kashmir dispute Khan said, “We demand that the United Nations Security Council immediately discuss the issue of Kashmir and halt the unabated human rights violations taking place in the IOK”. He said that it was high time that the international community must abandon its dual standards and objectively assess the facts and figures of the dispute and ensure a just, democratic solution of the matter.
President Masood Khan said that the Muslim leaders of Kashmir in 1947; Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Raees-ul-Ahrar Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas and others had made a conscious decision at Srinagar regarding joining Pakistan. The people of AJK and Pakistan will continue with their diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, said the President. “As a nation it is our duty to honor the resolution and commitments made by our forefathers”, he said.
Today, the President said, the people of Azad Kashmir enjoy freedom due to the selfless sacrifices of the freedom fighters who had courageously fought against imperialistic forces. President Masood Khan said that with the support of the Pakistan’s Government, AJK is going through a new era of development whereby new infrastructure development projects especially roads, energy, education, health, tourism, industrial and agricultural projects have been introduced. This, he said, would not only make AJK self-sufficient, but will also strengthen the economy of Pakistan. He said that we are grateful to Pakistan that despite all the difficulties, they have always provided political and diplomatic support for the freedom movement.
The President paid tributes to the Armed Forces for their courage and resilience in defending Pakistan and AJK from all internal and external threats. He said that the Armed Forces have always retaliated the aggressive cross border fire and shelling taking place at the LOC by the Indian forces.
The President also presented the Presidential Award to police officers that had displayed courage and bravery during their service. President AJK said that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir will always stand by the people of IOK and pledged to continue striving for the freedom of Kashmir.
Pertinently, the main event of the 70th Foundation Day of the Azad State of Jammu and Kashmir was held in a spectacular and grand fashion at the university grounds in Muzaffarabad. Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion. Raja Farooq Haider, Prime Minister AJK, Muhammad Ibrahim Zia Chief Justice Supreme Court AJK, Cabinet Misters, members of the Legislative Assembly senior officials, Additional Chief Secretary to Government of AJK, Shoaib Dastagir Inspector General Police AJK of the police service were also present at the event.
The event started with the National Anthem of Pakistan and was followed by the inspection of the parade by the President AJK. Various platoons of the AJK police and civil defense presented their honorary salute to the Chief Guest
A splendid tactical display was also presented by the elite forces of the AJK police. Numerous floats by various departments of AJK were also displayed for the pleasure of the guests and crowd.
The President of AJK in his formal address praised the efforts of the police for organizing the event. He said that as a proud and free nation it is our responsibility to present our tribute to the brave martyrs who had laid their lives for the freedom of AJK. He said, “”Freedom is our identity. It is our way, this is our destiny and we will wrest it form the Indian occupation forces.”
