Srinagar: The puppet authorities have imposed strict restrictions in Srinagar to prevent people from taking out Muharram processions and staging anti-India demonstrations, today.
According to KMS, the authorities imposed restrictions in the jurisdictions of eight police stations of the city. The curbs have been put in place in the areas falling under the jurisdictions of Shaheed Gunj, Karan Nagar, Maisuma, Kothibagh, Sherghari, Kralkhud, Batamaloo and Ram Munishi Bagh police stations.
It is to mention here that Traditionally main procession of 8th Muharram used to start in Srinagar from Shaheed Gunj and culminate at Dalgate after passing through different areas while the procession of 10th Muharram would start from Aabi Guzar and end at Zadibal. However, the occupation authorities banned these processions in 1990 and now only small mourning rallies are allowed in selected areas.
Meanwhile, residents of Wanpoh area of Islamabad district staged demonstrations against a braid-chopping incident. They blocked the busy Srinagar-Jammu Highway near Wanpoh railway station in the south Kashmir district. The protesters were demanding action against the culprits.
About two dozen incidents of mysterious hair chopping have been reported from Kashmir, with nearly fifteen incidents from Kulgam and Islamabad districts during past couple of weeks. On Wednesday, locals in Chimmer area of Kulgam said that Indian Army was coming to the aid of a braid chopper apprehended by them.
