ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), Ministry of overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development in collaboration with Human Resource Development (HRD) Department of Republic of Korea held an orientation Session with prominent Pakistani industrialists and businessmen in Islamabad to encourage them to utilize the skills of Pakistani workers who return from South Korea after completing the period of their agreement with foreign employers.

Mr. Pervaiz Ahmed Junejo , Managing Director, Overseas Employment Corporation and Mr. Seo Jeong Jae, Director HRD Korea briefed the participants about the skills and strength of successful Pakistani workers. They acknowledged the services of Pakistani workers and resolved to further strengthen the cooperation between Governments of Pakistan and Republic of Korea in the field of human resources development and employment prospects for the workers.

Under the Employment Permit System, hundreds of Pakistani workers selected on the basis of merit proceed to South Korea every year to earn their livelihoods and valuable foreign exchange for Pakistan. During the past nine years, after the MOU was signed between Republic of Korea and Pakistan,7,136 Pakistani workers have proceeded to South Korea. Under the South Korean law, foreign workers have to return to their countries of origin after five years. The interaction with the industrialists and businessmen will pave the way for utilizing the services of returnees for the mutual benefits of the industrial sector as well as the workers and ensure their re integration while preventing cases of illegal overstay in South Korea.
