MIRPUR (AJK): The state-run Special Communications Organisation (SCO) hosted a grand ceremony here Wednesday night to mark Defense and Martyrs Day of Pakistan to pay glorious tributes to the martyrs as well as Ghazis of the Indo-Pak war for safeguarding the geographical and ideological frontiers of the country by giving a befitting reply to the enemy in 1965-India-Pakistan war.
The ceremony was held with Acting Commanding Officer SCO Mirpur Division Major Tariq Mahmood Bangish in the chair at its Central Mess to celebrate the defense day of Pakistan.Besides all civil and military ranks of the Special Communications Organization including Major Jabran Daanish, Major Mufeed Khan, Engineer Afnan, the Media Advisor Chaudhry Jehangir Shehzad, the ceremony was attended among others by the city elite including senior Journalists and columnists including Station Director Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur Ch. Muhammad Shakeel, A.H. Rao, Divisional chief PID Mirpur Div. Javed Malik, President Press Club Raja Habib Ullah Khan, Muhammad Asif Rathoi, Ch. Khalid Mahmood Anjum and others. Some of the civil staff members of the SCO paid glorious tributes to the martyrs and ghazis of 1965 war through singing the national songs. In his presidential address, acting Commanding officer SCO Mirpur Division Major Tariq Bangish said that the valiant armed forces of Pakistan are fully capable to meet any of the challenge to the frontiers of the country and they will leave no stone unturned to safeguard the ideological and geographical boundaries of Pakistan as and when required in case of any threat from across the frontiers of the country.

He recalled that the coward Indian armed forces imposed the undeclared war attacking the frontiers of Pakistan this day in 1965 in the darkness of night. Major Tariq said that the brave armed forces of Pakistan and the highly-moraled Pakistani nation responded the enemy’s attack with convincing defeat who (India) was later forced to flee from her own territories in the forward areas and was compelled to end the war only after 17 days. On this occasion, fateha khawani was offered for the martyrs of the, 1948, 1965 1971 and Kargal Indo-Pak wars besides the Kashmiri martyrs who gave the supreme sacrifices of their lives for the safeguard of inch after inch of the soil of their motherland Pakistan including Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Amidst full-throat Zindabad slogans for Pakistan and valiant armed forces of Pakistan, the participants of the simple but impressive gathering vowed to follow the foot prints of the martyrs to safeguard the defense of the country, its prosperity, welfare and speedy progress.
