Muzaffarabad: Police mobiles in stations and check posts became idle due to in-availability of fuel by the department.
As per government notification, 500 litters fuel per mobile in police stations and 300 liters for mobile present on check posts was granted but only 100 liters fuel is given to each mobile.
These police mobiles are also used for patrolling, to maintain law and order, for station purposes and for VIP protocols as well. On the other hand, officials of Police department said that they are facing lack of budget due to which provision of fuel is less.
It has also been observed that some elite police officers have more than 3 government vehicles and many police constables, servants and tailors assigned to do personal tasks of officers.
Provision of fuel and other expenses of elite officers’ tours as per their log books have never been observed under estimated. Accountants of Police departments are breaching government notification for the provision of 500 and 300 litters per mobile for each police station and check post respectively.
Senior police officers also seem silent to maintain their perks and privileges and couldn’t take any stern action due to dependency on accountants in the department. On the other hand, Police department in AJK is also facing lack of Man power and not even a single ASI has been directly inducted since 2009.
Citizen demanded PM AJK, chief secretary and New IGP AJK to take stern action for the provision of fuel to police mobiles and to take back extra government vehicles and staff from elite officers of low budgeted department.
