Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that government would utilize all available resources to develop a comprehensive sports infrastructure in the region whereby play grounds would be built at all divisional and district headquarters to provide youth of the region the provision of better sports facilities and healthy entertainment opportunities.
The AJK Premier made these remarks while presiding a high level meeting held under the aegis of Ministry of Youth and sports here on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Ch. Muhammad Saeed the AJK minister for Sports, Culture & Youth, Secretary Raja M Abass and other government officials. Speaking on the occasion Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that promotion of sports and sporting culture would be instrumental in engaging the youth in healthy activities besides keeping them away from the negative activities. He said that the trends of extremism could also be curbed by promoting sports activities. He said that sports play an important role in setting up a healthy society, saying that youth should actively participate in positive activities like sports.
Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his concerns over the extra usage of digital devices like smart phones, video games etc by students. He said such types of activities badly affect the mental health of the students as well as consumption of valuable time. He advocated that physical development was vital for the mental health of the youth. He underscored the need to ensure playgrounds for the students in private educational institutions.†A monitoring authority would be setup to ensure sports facilities in the private schools and colleges as well”, he said.
He barred the monitoring Authority from issuing no objection certificate to private schools without ensuring the proper play ground in such schools. He directed to provide all facilities to Nrrol Sport Stadium including flood lights. He vowed to provide sports facilities in all educational institutions across AJK. He said that government had allocated huge funds in the budget for promoting sports activities in the State. He said that play grounds are being constructed throughout the AJK.
The prime minister said that outdoor and indoor sports facilities will be provided in all divisional headquarters. He said that youth should actively participate in positive activities like sports. He said that AJK government will provide all out resources for the promotion of sports activities among the youth. AJK minister for Sports, Culture & Youth Choudhary Muhammad Saeed also spoke to the meeting.
