Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, to protest against the surge in killings by Indian forces in the territory.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leaders have also called for a peaceful sit-in protest outside the UN office at Sonawar in Srinagar after Juma prayers to urge the United Nations to ask India to stop the massacre of people in Kashmir and to remind the World Body to fulfill its commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

All shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads in Srinagar and other major towns.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have imposed curfew and restrictions in Srinagar and other parts of the territory to prevent the sit-in protest outside the UN office in Srinagar. The authorities have also sealed all roads leading to UN office. Train service between Baramulla and Banihal areas has been suspended.
