Islamabad:(Parliament Times) Celebrating 25th Anniversary of Kazakhstan-Pakistan Diplomatic ties Mr. Bakhytbek Shabarbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan hosted a grand reception on Tuesday evening at a local hotel to celebrate the country’s 25th anniversary of the diplomatic services with Pakistan. The function was attended by politicians, parliamentarians, ambassadors, foreign diplomats, retired civil servants, and businessmen, member of civil society professionals and media persons. Lt General (Retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) was Chief Guest, whereas Mr. Ansr Sheikh, Mayor & Chairman CDA was the guest of honour. The Ambassador and his team warmly welcomed every guest. After a brief ceremony of playing of national anthems and cake cutting amidst long applause by the guests, the hall was abuzz with informal talks and interactions among the participation discussing national and international issues.
It may be recalled here that bilateral relations between the two countries began when Pakistan recognized Kazakhstan on December 20, 1991. On February 24, 1992, diplomatic and consular relations were established during an official visit by Kazakhstan president Mr.Nursultan Nazarbayev to Pakistan. Kazakhstan has now emerged as a thriving market for Pakistani goods.Mr. Bakhytbek Shabarbayev, is one of the longest serving envoy in Islamabad with strong links in the corridor of power as well with members of civil society and trading community. A quiet person with a strong insight, Kazakh Ambassador is a popular figure in Pakistan.
