Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued tenders to procure dozens of Micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (MUAVs) to be used for yatra security and tracking the movement of Kashmiri youth and assessing the size and location of a protesting crowd in the territory.

A senior official of CRPF in an interview in Srinagar said that apart from deploying more personnel along the yatra route, especially the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, UAVs would be used for security purpose.

The annual yatra is scheduled to begin on June 28 this year.

He said that the drones would also be used to track down the movement of Kashmiri youth during cordon and search operations.

The CRPF spokesman, Rajesh Yadav, in an interview said that the UAVs would also be used get a picture of the crowd and to know the number of protestors and their locations.
