LAHORE: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is waiting for a disaster; he wants the army to intervene so he can claim political martyrdom, which is precisely why he keeps needling the institution.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Rashid claimed that Nawaz had a difficult connection with the army and the country was suffering because of this uneasy relationship. He added that only the PM was to be blamed for it.

He alleged that the government deliberately “lost the case of Kulbhushan Yadav on the instructions of the prime minister”. The case was prepared with gaps, which were exploited by the Indian side, he claimed.

Rashid further alleged that Indian businessman Sajan Jindal came to Pakistan with a mission, which was now more than evident. So was the case of Nehal Hashmi, who acted on the directions of the prime minister. Because of all these factors, Sharif already knew he had lost his case; he was only fighting to save his daughter, he added.
