MIRPUR (AJK): (Altaf Hamid Rao) The students of public-sector Mohterma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed (MBBS) Medical College Mirpur continued their indefinite pen-down strike the second successive day on Thursday to mark their strong protest against the continued inordinate delay in announcement of the results of all classes including the final year of the five-year MBBS degree program.
The first five-year degree course of Medical graduation (MBBS) has so far been completed since so many months – since the college was established in 2011 and it was due to be announced about four months ago, the protestant students complained.
They furious students of all classes boycotted their studies and staged a protest demonstration in the premises of the college the second consecutive day on Thursday to register their indignation against the poor performance of the college management for its alleged failure in ensuring the timely announcement of the result besides getting the due affiliation of the college with any accredited University of Health Sciences of the country duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
The demonstrating students raised slogans against the higher management of the college besides the Azad Jammu & Kashmir University, to whom the college is presently affiliated.
When contacted, a spokesperson of the demonstrating students Dr. Usman Ghani told this Correspondent Thursday afternoon that the protestant students have demanded of the college management to immediately move for getting the exam results announced by the AJK varsity.
The protestant students pointed out that the career of the students, who have so far completed their five-year studies from the college since past many months, is falling bleak because of the inordinate delay in announcement of the result. They referred to those students of the Mirpur Medical college who have so far been selected by Pak Army for the Army Medical Core, who could not further been moved for due training because of the lack of due formal announcement of the result of their final year class by the college.
The protestant students apprehended that their career may further badly suffer if the results were not announced by the end of the next month of May. The demonstrating students further said that the due house-job term for the students who completed their five-year studies so far, was also falling gray because of the exceptional delay in announcement of the results.
Inviting immediate attention of the President of AJK Sardar Masood Khan, who is also Chancellor of the state-run AJK University, and the Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan towards the above ugly state of affairs, the students including the young doctors completing their studies from the college and waiting for their result, demanded the top AJK leaders to order for immediate announcement of the results of all classes of the MBBS Medical College to save their career. They also demanded a high level probe into the inordinate delay in announcement of the results by the College.
