Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the entire territory was rocked on the fifth day, today, by pro-freedom and anti-India protests by student community. The protesting students included primary class boys to adults doing doctorate.
Clashes broke out at various places in north and central Kashmir between Indian troops and students, who were demonstrating against use of force in different degree colleges across the Valley. The students of Higher Secondary School Palhalan and Ajas in Bandipora blocked Srinagar-Baramulla road. Similarly, students of Delina, Nadihal, Kangan and Sopore areas of Bandipora and Baramulla marched on the streets and staged sit-ins. Many students were injured when police resorted to brute force on protesting students. Kashmir University Students also protested against the highhandedness of Indian forces.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that educational institutions had been turned into battlefields and youth were subjected to worst form of state terrorism. He slammed puppet authorities for their brute approach towards students.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik visited hospitals in Srinagar and enquired about the well-being of injured students. He also visited the critically injured girl student Iqra Sideeq. She was hit in her head by the men of Indian Central Reserve Police Force in Srinagar, the other day. Yasin Malik on the occasion denounced the continued illegal detention of party leaders and activists.
Meanwhile, a 20-year old youth, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, who was injured in firing of Indian troops a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar, today. The news about the death of the youth triggered protests and shutdown in Ganderbal district. APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and various Sikh organizations, including Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Shiromani Akali Dal, International Sikh Federation, Sikh Students Federation and Sikh Youths of Jammu and Kashmir denounced the unrelenting killings and Indian brutalities.
Speakers at a seminar held in Islamabad, today, lauded the sacrifices of the students in IOK while resisting against Indian illegal occupation. They said that India would not be able to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle, aimed at securing their right to self-determination. The panelists included Nafees Zakaria, Shaikh Tajammul-ul-Islam, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Shamim Shawl and Abdul Hameed Lone.
On the other hand, Indian government has approved the recruitment of over 10,000 killers in the name of special police officers to deal with the ongoing mass uprising in occupied Kashmir. This has been revealed in the annual report released by the Indian Home Ministry. The move is being seen by Kashmiri resistance leadership as an Indian conspiracy to pitch Kashmiris against Kashmiris.
