Islamabad: The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, strongly condemning the killing of three innocent civilians by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir has urged the international community to take immediate and serious notice of the grim situation of human rights in the territory.
The civilians namely Zahid Rasheed, Aamir Fayaz and Ishfaq Ahmad were killed and dozens others were injured when Indian troops opened fire on protesters in Chadoora area of Badgam district on Tuesday.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the extrajudicial murders of Kashmiris specially killing of people during peaceful protests was deplorable. The international community should stop gross human rights violations committed by Indian forces’ personnel in occupied Kashmir, he said.

The KCEU Chairman said that unfortunately violence and human rights violations in the occupied territory were continuing unabated. Murders, disappearances, torture, use of bullets and rape of women by Indian authorities and curbs on freedom of speech and peaceful protest is a routine matter in the occupied territory, he pointed out. However, he said that such brutal tactics could not force the Kashmiri people to surrender their demand for right to self-determination.

The KCEU Chairman expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, demanding his immediate release. He also called for resolution of the Kashmir dispute by giving the Kashmiri people their inalienable right as guaranteed by the relevant UN resolutions on Kashmir.

About KCEU’s activities in Europe, Ali Raza Syed said, “We will make the international community especially the European people aware of the Indian atrocities and the severe situation of human rights in occupied Kashmir.
