Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Senior judge of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has been appointed as Justice of Apex Court Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to the details Justice M. Tabassum Aftab Alvi has replaced Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal who promoted on Wednesday after serving as chief justice for 3 years since his appointment in 2010. Justice Mustafa was born in December, 1955 in village Balgran,District Muzaffarabad and passed his matriculation from Government Pilot High School, Muzaffarabad. He completed his Bachelor of Law from University of Punjab in 1979 and joined legal profession as an advocate in May 5, 1980 while as advocate of Honorable Supreme Court of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in 1983. He has also been a part-time lecturer at the Kashmir Law College, where he taught Civil Procedure Code and the Constitution. Latter, Justice Mustafa Mughal was elected as General Secretary Central Bar in 1987 and served as President Central Bar in the years 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1997. He was elected as Member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bar Council in the year 1997 and served as the Chairman of Executive Committee of Bar Council in 1997. He was elected as President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar in the year 2001. He was elevated as the permanent Judge of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and took oath of office on January 30, 2002. Mr. Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal also was appointed as the 16th Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in addition to his current functions as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 11-02-2016 and took oath on 19th Feb, 2016. General Elections to the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly were held in 2016 under his overall supervision. Transparency of the elections was hauled all over Azad Kashmir and Pakistan
