QUETTA: (Parliament Times) The first phase of sixth national housing and population census has begun and it will continue till 15th of next month.

Chief Statistician Asif Bajwa inaugurated the process of census in Attock district on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he urged the people to enthusiastically participate in the Housing and Population Census.

During the first phase, census process will be completed in 63 districts of the country including 16 in Punjab, eight in Sindh, thirteen districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai Agency of FATA, 15 districts in Balochistan, and five each in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

President Mamnoon Hussain inaugurated the 6th national census process in Karachi on Wednesday.

He put the housing census number 001 at the State Guest House.

Mamnoon Hussain also expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for the census process in the country.

Meanwhile, in a message to the nation, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that it is our national responsibility to accomplish the sixth census of the country.

He called the nation to cooperate with enumerators and give them correct information so that the government can create best policies for the development and welfare of the people.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif kicked-off the house census by marking his residence in Lahore on Wednesday morning.

Talking to the media, he advised the masses to cooperate with the staff of the population census and given them correct and accurate data.

Sindh Government has established a monitoring room to establish census process in the province.

In Balochistan, about seven thousand personnel have been deputed for conducting the census process.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Muhammad Tayyab inaugurated the census by enumerating the President House.

In Gilgit, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman has appealed to the people to cooperate with census teams and provide them correct information.

A control room has been established in the office of Local Government and Rural Development Department Peshawar to ensure smooth national census.
