Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Thursday urged religious scholars, media and civil society organizations to play an active role for raising awareness regarding the rights of women. Addressing a ceremony held in connection with World Women Day here on Thursday, he said over fourteen hundred years ago, Islam gave women rights that women in the West have only recently began to demand.
The religion of Islam, he added grant elevated status to women in the society. In a true Islamic society, women enjoy more rights than the men. The Prime Minister said that women in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have written a new history of valour by fighting Indian repression with courage and determination and today Asia Andarabi and Farida Behan Jee are role model for the women of the world to fight oppression for their rights. He said that women must realize their responsibilities along with the demand of their rights. Prime Minister said that PML-N government is taking tangible measures to empower women in the state according to the vision of Prime Minster Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed to ensure hundred percent registrations of women in voter lists and census. Raja Farooq Haider Khan said twenty five percent quotas are being allocated for women and youth in upcoming local bodies’ election in the state.
Lauding the role of Kashmiri women in the Kashmir liberation struggle, he said that Kashmiri women are rendering matchless sacrifices for the success of freedom movement.
AJK Prime Minister appealed international community to take serious notice of Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiri women who struggling to achieve their internationally recognized right to self determination.
The Prime Minister earlier also took a round of the stalls in the exhibition setup by the department of Social Welfare and Women Development. the ceremony was also addressed by Secretary Social Welfare Ghulam Bashir Mughal, Dr Bushra Shamas, Director Women Development Sardar Sarfraz Abbasi, Rahat Farooq Advocate. The Members of AJK Legislative Assembly, Dr Mustafa Bashir, Faiza Ahasan, Seharish Qammar, Principal Secretary Ahasan Khalid Kiani and Director Information Azhar Iqbal Raja were also present in the ceremony.
Meanwhile addressing at Kashmir Institute of Management after administering oath to the newly inducted Assistant Commissioners, ASPs and Section Officers, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that bureaucracy is the backbone of the government and it should play its effective role ensuring good governance in the state.
AJK Prime Minister urged the officers to utilize their all capabilities and serve the masses with missionary zeal. He directed newly inducted officers to discharge their duties with dedication, commitment and honesty. Raja Farooq Haider Khan said implementation of merit, establishing good governance and raising voice for the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are among the top priorities of his government.
