Srinagar : In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to prominent Kashmiri martyred leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru ahead of their martyrdom anniversaries.

The leaders have also launched a signature campaign to press for the return of their mortal remains buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Hurriyet leaders, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Ramzan Khan and Farida Behanji in their separate statements said that both the martyrs were the icons of the freedom movement of Kashmir. They would always be remembered as heroes of this suppressed Kashmiri people, who challenged Indian legitimacy and rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) in their statements also paid tributes to the renowned martyrs.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Shakeelur Rehman, Ghulam Nabi War and others today launched the signature campaign to return mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru, who were executed in Tihar Jail 1984 and 2013 respectively at Sopore .People in large number participated in signature campaign
