Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 13 Kashmiri youth in the last month of January.

According to the data issued by the Research Section of the news agency , today, one of those martyred was killed in a fake encounter. As many as 63 people were injured in the firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells by Indian troops and police personnel against peaceful protesters. 93 civilians including Hurriyet leaders and activists were arrested during the month. Indian forces’ personnel also destroyed 9 residential houses and disgraced three women.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Ajas area of Bandipora District, today, against the massacre of civilians that took place in the area in February 1992. A prayers’ meeting organized by International Forum for Justice was held on the occasion. A large number of people including Hurriyet leaders Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi participated in the event. Six people were killed by the personnel of Indian paramilitary Border Security Force on this day in 1992 during a crackdown in the area.

Dozens of people were injured when Indian army and police personnel fired bullets, pellets and PAVA shells on peaceful protesters in Pampore and Shopian areas. Scores of residents staged a protest at Press Colony in Srinagar against the anti-people policies of the puppet administration.

Hurriyet leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza during a visit to the families of 2016 martyrs in Awantipora called upon the United Nations to urgently intervene for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He paid tributes to martyrs and said that Kashmir was a serious human rights issue and basic cause of tension in south Asia. Another Hurriyet leader Zafar Akbar Butt visited Soura Medical Institute and Bone & Joint hospital in Srinagar and enquired about the health of various injured youth.
