Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for observance of Global Kashmir Day tomorrow and a march towards Islamabad town in the Valley on Monday.
The leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar gave the call for observance of Global Kashmir Day and conducting of the march towards Islamabad town as part of the protests programmes against the killing of innocent people by Indian forces in the territory. They asked the Kashmiris across the world to hold rallies and protest marches wherever they live. They also called for complete shutdown in the occupied territory on Saturday and playing of Azaadi songs from the loudspeakers of the mosques after Maghrib prayers. The leaders said that on Sunday complete strike in the day and blackout would be observed in the night while on Monday besides observing total shutdown a public meeting would be held in Islamabad town to pay tributes to the martyrs. The statement urged the people from across the occupied territory to reach the town and participate in the gathering.
On the other hand, despite curfew, the occupied territory was rocked by forceful demonstrations late last evening with people observing blackout by shutting down all electricity lights from 8:30 PM to 9 PM. The protesters raised forceful anti-India and pro-freedom slogans and played Azaadi songs from the loudspeakers of masajid. Indian troops and police used brute force at many places to disperse the protesters.
The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, thanked the government and people of Pakistan for observing Black Day, yesterday, against Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and raising the Kashmir dispute in the UN. The APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and the Jammat-e-Islami of the occupied territory in their statements urged the world community to stop genocide of Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the puppet authorities continued to impose strict curfew and put Hurriyet leaders under detention on the 13th consecutive day, today, to prevent demonstrations against killings. The residents of Gurez in Bandipora staged protests against the biased reporting of situation in the territory by an Indian TV news channel. Complete strike was observed in Kargil town, today, against the civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley. Protests erupted at SMHS hospital in Srinagar after authorities forced the volunteers to close their relief activities of providing free food and medicines to the injured people and their attendants in the hospital.
In India, Congress leader, Jyotiraditya Scindia, initiating a discussion on Kashmir situation in Lok Sabha, the lower House of Indian Parliament, called for holding of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. Tamil Nationalist and Periyarist Movements in Tamil Nadu staged a protest at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai to express solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir and condemn the Indian state terrorism in the territory. Indian police booked at least 16 youth in Kannur city of Kerala state for protesting against the killing spree in occupied Kashmir.
