MIRPUR: (Parliament Times) Mirpur (Azad Jammu & Kashmir) civil society Tuesday celebrated the prestigious and honorable transfer of command to the newly-inducted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa from the outgoing COAS General Raheel Sharif.
Major ceremony to reiterate full solidarity with the valiant armed forces and the people of Pakistan through facilitation to the new COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa was hosted by the renewed trade union leader of the business community of Mirpur and President of his own faction of Markazi Anjuman e Tajran (Tajir Ittehad) Chaudhry Mahmood Ahmed at his business complex at Mian Muhammad Road here on Tuesday soon after the change of command from the outgoing General Raheel Shareef to the new army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa held in Rawalpindi Tuesday morning.
A large number of people from diverse segments of the civil society including members of the business fraternity, political and human rights activists, journalists and the city elite attended the ceremony which was sounded with the drum beatings and full throat Pakistan – zindabad and Armed forces of Pakistan Zindabard and Kashmir freedom movement – Zindabad slogans by the jubilant participants of the simple but impressive ceremony.
On this occasion, sweet meat and cooked food was served to the guests besides the poor and down trodden attending the ceremony. Expressing full solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan and extending heartiest facilitations to the new COAS Gen. Bajwa besides paying rich tributes to the outgoing Gen. Raheel Sharif, speakers including the host Chaudhry Mahmood Ahmed, ex Advisor to AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, President Kashmir Press Club Mirpur Hafiz Muhammad Maqsood Ahmed, senior Kashmiri analysts Altaf Hamid Rao and Raja Habib Ullah Khan, PTI AJK leaders Ch. Muhammad Mansha and Ch. Ansar Saarim, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Human Rights Commission Humayoon Zaman Mirza and others facilitated General Qamar Javed Bajwa for taking over the command of the Pakistan Army.
Speakers said that Gen. Bajwa has assumed charge of the Chief of the Army Staff at the time when Pakistan was passing through grim challenges both at its internal and external fronts including the escalation at the line of control in Jammu & Kashmir following the frequent incidents of unprovoked Indian firing on the LoC in AJK besides rest of war against the terrorism. Speakers hoped that the new COAS will continue the high professional strategy and the successful mission of the outgoing COAS General Raheel Shareef to safeguarding the frontiers of the country besides to totally eliminate the menace of terrorism from its roots till a single terrorist was alive.
Holding banners bearing message of facilitation to the new COAS Gen. Bajwa on assuming the charge, speakers reiterated full solidarity with the valiant armed forces of Pakistan . They said that the hearts of the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the armed forces of Pakistan beat in unison.
They warned India to refrain from launching any adventure against Pakistan or AJK. “Azad Jammu & Kashmir will be turned into the graveyard of the Indian army if India launched any attack against Pakistan and AJKâ€, speakers declared adding that the people of AJK will fight shoulder-to-shoulder the valiant armed forces of Pakistan to vigorously frustrate and give a befitting reply to every Indian aggression against the motherland – Pakistan or AJK.
Speakers reposed full confidence in the armed forces of the country by declared the people are fully at the back of their valiant armed forces for ensuring the fool proof defense and security of the ideological and geographical frontiers of the country all the time. They said that the armed forces were the only solid rock for the defense of Pakistan which is always atop and dearer to child after child of the state of Jammu & Kashmir living at both sides of the line of control.
Speakers said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir were always prepared to give sacrifice for the defense of Pakistan in case of any foreign aggression to the frontiers of the country, by fighting shoulder to shoulder the brave armed forces of the country.
They emphasized the need to forge complete unity in our ranks to frustrate every internal or external threat hatched by the enemy. They said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir always gave sacrifices for the security, stability and sovereignty of Pakistan and will establish the same spirit as and when needed.
Speakers said that Kashmiris people will not ever hesitate from giving any sacrifice for the sake of the security and solidarity of Pakistan .
Speakers paid rich tributes to the outgoing COAS General (Retd) Raheel Shareef for launching successful mission to eliminate terrorism from the country besides to ensure the strong defense of the country through his high professional skills and talent. They hoped that under the dynamic leadership of the new army chief , the brave armed forces would serve for ensuring the strongly defense of the country through the best of their professional abilities and high talent at both peace and war times
